There's a saying on most campaigns: "If you're not the candidate and people are reading about you, something bad probably happened."
Not today.
In most campaigns there are anywhere from dozens to hundreds of paid staffers and volunteers working tirelessly to propel "the boss" to some elected position.
Who are they? What are their days like? Is dropping everything and working as a campaign staffer this cycle something that might interest you? How do you get started? Drop questions in the comments and they'll be answered in real-time.
This will be going on all day, and we'd like to have as much feedback as possible, so please do leave a question and consider recommending this diary -- Tim

Today, the Chris Dodd for President campaign wants to introduce you to some staff members -- via live video.
You can ask them questions about the Dodd campaign, their jobs personally, or anything else you want to know about campaign life or their department. Our policy director will be around to give you the straight dope on the current DoD Authorization fight as well.
The people that talk to the press, coordinate fundraising activities, do the scheduling, run the office operations, coordinate political relationships, run the internet department, and more...
MTV used to run a show called "True Life". It's tagline was, "You think you know, but you have no idea." Today is your chance to get a glimpse into the lives of Presidential campaign staffers.
Ultimately, this campaign is about Senator Dodd and the bold solutions he'll bring to the table as your next President of the United States.
To a person, every one of us on campaign staff goes to work each morning recognizing the monumental task the next President will face digging our nation out of the hole created by the Bush Administration.
For today, we'd like to talk with you about the campaign, and our work telling the world what all of us already know: Chris Dodd is the best man of that job.
Drop your questions below, or in the live chat at [this link ] and we'll do our best to answer them throughout the day.
Tim
