As most of you know by now, Senator Dodd voted for the Boxer amendment and stuck around to cast his vote against the abhorrent Cornyn amendment that took place only minutes later.
He released the following statement moments ago:
"It is a sad day in the Senate when we spend hours debating an ad while our young people are dying in Iraq. Now that the Senate has twice voted on this ad, it is time to move on and vote to end the war." - Chris Dodd
He also thought it would be a good idea for people to email their Senators and ask them to spend more time voting to end the war than condemning an advertisement. You can easily do that here:
Email your Senators
Finally, this has been a rough 48 hours for progressives. First we saw the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act go down, then we actually LOST a vote on the Webb amendment, and Feingold-Reid and Levin-Reed will happen today or tomorrow.
Know that Senator Dodd has led the fight in the Senate to end the war and make sure President Bush doesn't get yet another blank check from Congress.
Tim
